We have owned Shorty for roughly 14 years. We do not have his registration papers; but, believe he was papered. Originally trained as a reining horse, the owner didn't pay Shorty's vet bill in Dublin, Texas, and our friend (a local hero team roper & old friend) Jerry Pair (deceased) ended up paying vet bill in order to own him. Jerry sold him to us. When we went to look at him and potentially purchase him, we put our between 3 & 4-year-old daughter on him, and she rode him all around in a round pen. We can post that video and many more of our friend heeling on him. Primarily being a header in competition (haven't competed much due to raising our 3 children the last 25 years); so, we loaned him out to an accomplished consistent very successful amateur heeler friend who has heeled on him for the better part of the last 12 or 13 years. Shorty has been given the best of care his entire life. Shorty doesn't have any noticeable (or known), blemishes, injuries or scars. He has not taken a lame step to my knowledge. I know our friend, who teamed up often with a header, that is a veterinarian, had Shorty's hocks injected at least once being able to have it done cheaply and easily. Shorty is extremely gentle, easy to catch, easy to shoe, gets along with other horses but prefers people. Our friend won a lot of money heeling on Shorty in TX, OK, NW, AZ and NV; but, is now riding a 5 year old gelding loaned to him from one of his partners. We were paid 1/4 of the net mount money.
