AAE welcomed Tegan and her weeks old colt Austin from the DreamCatcher Wild Horse and Burro Sanctuary in April of to support their ongoing herd reduction efforts after the long illness and passing of their Executive Director, Barbara Clarke in November . Tegan is a sweet, confident but mild-mannered mare. Tegan had minimal handling upon arrival. She wasn't too opposed to human touch and she accepted a halter fairly easily.
Tegan is a cute and flashy mare and a very smart girl. She learns quickly and tries hard, yet can't be pushed too fast. Tegan spent several weeks at the Monty Roberts International Learning Center (MRILC) as part of the Advanced Course for Horsemanship learning basic groundwork and the basics of starting under saddle; however, she was not ridden. Tegan has continued her education at AAE and she continues to build confidence. She needs more trust in humans before moving her forward. She is athletic, intelligent, and she's looking for a mustang-experienced home. She does best when she has several days of interaction and the right person willing to give her the consistency and continuity she needs with no time limits or other expectations. Tegan is not suitable for a beginner.
Tegan is current with hoof and dental care, vaccines and deworming, and she has a microchip.
